ROV PILOT/TECHNICIAN, SONAR TRAINING COURSE
Course Name: ROV & Sonar Operation & Maintenance
Course Length: 5 days (50 hours instruction)
Course Certificates: Certificate of Completion In ROV & Sonar Operation & Maintenance
Practical Operation Of: Video Ray ROV, Tritech Micron Sonar, Tritech Starfish Side Scan Sonar, Humminbird Side Imaging Sonar
Training will be run in house at the clients desired location
Students will be assessed throughout the course on performance.
Each student will be issued with the following:
Course manual
ROV Pilots Logbook
Personal ROV log (issued only at the end of the course)
Course certificate of competency
The following course outline is subject to modification by the instructor
Day 1 (Monday) Course Introduction
Course introduction, issue relevant paperwork, manuals, explain course objectives etc
Introduction to ROV & Sonar Systems
The safe use of electricity in air and underwater
Introduction to the Video Ray ROV system and associated equipment
Carry out practical piloting demonstration, pre and post-dive checks, launch procedures
Return equipment to base
Debrief
Day 2 (Tuesday) Practical
Mobilize equipment to dive site
Basic underwater navigation techniques, principles of sonar operations
Prepare ROV and associated equipment for diving
Equipment launch & recovery techniques
Tether management techniques
ROV construction, buoyancy, manipulators and ancillary equipment,
Equipment maintenance and system faultfinding
Working with divers
Return equipment to base
Debrief
Day 3 (Wednesday) Practical
Mobilize equipment to dive site
Survey methods using ROV and Sonar
ROV emergency recovery procedures
Return equipment to base
Debrief
Day 4 (Thursday) Practical
Mobilize equipment to dive site
ROV & Side Scan deployment systems, their methods of operation
Practical search exercise
Return equipment to base
Debrief
Day 5 (Friday) Practical
Mobilize equipment to dive site
Practical piloting skills
